Hey, if you drive backwards all the time it would make it rear wheel drive wouldn't it? ;)

On a serious note the tranverse engine with gearbox on the right doesn't leave much room to get a propshaft to the rear. You would probably need to do an engine conversion to an inline configuration to achieve it, buying a RWD car in the 1st place would make more sense.

Whats the best oil for a RWD saab then :confused:

Home Depot perhaps :confused:

Hmm, I think it depends if you fit a splash guard really :)

If you were really thrifty I bet you could swap a system out of another car. But if you have to ask, you're not. Those type of people keep it a secret and then go...

TADA look what I made! *lavish upon me* :cheesy:

I think that is a good point well made. If you mouted the engine in line then it would work well. Transverse is not really designed for this kind of thing.

I think that this is a mod too far :nono;:nono;

Maybe stick to the car as it is with a few additiona i.e. tune software, wheels and tyres, when you start getting to this idea just buy another car or buy a kit car if you really want to build somthing for fun!

I personally try and avoid doing anything unless I have to. One of the reasons I bought 2 Saab 95's is that I can get in any one of them and it is virtually the same, also the mechanics are virtually the same so saves me time!

Any suggestions on how to do that? :cheesy: Right hand drive might be a bit tricky. Anyway, if one does go from SAAB to Lotus Carlton, at least they will be at home in the interior.

Very saabish eh? ($92k, ouch that's well over a hundred in today's money!)

Wouldn't even be possible, you'd have to re-do how the interior looks to fit a transmission down the center of the car. Plus the exhaust pipe would have to be routed elsewhere and the rear suspension would have to be completely re-fabricated. It would cost you more money making a custom drive system than it would cost you to buy a Corvette...

The Audi AWD system can go all the way from 80% rear to 50/50 if needed.

The Saab XWD system will go 90% rear like they say, but the front wheels have to start spinning (ie. accelerating hard in a turn) to trigger the system to go to it's max. The car is much more efficient as a FWD so it will use those wheels as long as it can. From what I've read, the XWD system is quite stunning in the snow, I'm curious to see how the new 9-5 drives.

I can't wait until someone creates a mod for the ECU that allows the driver to manually select the drive bias... :cool:
