I have a 1997 Saab 900 s 2.3L 5sp manual non turbo.
The fuel injectors (all 4) which are new stay open during
the exhaust stroke/when the exhaust valve opens.

The valves, seals, head, exhaust and intake gasket, spark plugs, wires, distributor
are all new.
It starts and idles okay, the only problem is the injectors staying open. Fuel spews out of the exhaust gasket manifold
What could be the problem and how do I fix it?
Thanks

Robert, first of welcome to the NG900 - OG 9-3 forum, which is more than you got with those old Saabs.

I guess that's better than the other forum where the newer Saabs complain about the psuedo-leather seats squeeking and where to get good wipers.

Anyway, what's the history on your car? Did you just buy it? The problem really sounds like the ignition is not shutting off when the key is switched to Off. Just a guess on my part until you post some more information.

Maybe some others will chime in on your problem too... Ron

Thanks Ron, this is my first Saab, I bought it from a guy about 2 months ago was fed up with it. OBD11 code read 0303, 3rd cylinder misfire, he had put new spark plugs and wires, new distributor and rotor, new fuel injectors. It would start, have a rough idle with white smoke coming from the exhaust, but no power.
I took the head out, put in new valves and seals, new head gasket, intake and exhaust gasket. It starts and idles smoothly, there's compression, sparks on the plugs but the injectors continue to inject when the exhaust valves open. Fuel spews from between the exhaust gasket only when the engine is running.

This is a problem for a first class shop with all the equipment and knowledge.
A shame that all these parts were thrown, yet I see no diagnosing/testing/troubleshooting.
I suspect the ECU which controls the fuel injection (Haynes 12-27). ..
As a guess, test using a known good one.
