What's that button for on the key fob?

I don't own a 9-3ss, but I've noticed on the key they have the lock, unlock, trunk, and a button with a white line on it. What does that button do? I have been curious for a while and am finally asking, haha. I am a nerd.:cheesy: Thanks.

Also, I think if you press and hold any of the buttons, the car alarm will go off.
Yeah, my 9-5 does that too. It's actually kind of annoying that it takes so long to set off the panic. Oh well. That's a cool feature though with the follow me home lights.

I always thought car companies should team up with Homelink and add a garage door signal into their key fobs. There have been tons of times I would have found this useful. Maybe I should write to Saab and get them on that. It could be their company-saving innovation. Not.

There actually referred to as "Halo Lighting"...follow me home is different, it is activated by pulling back on the Signal Stalk.

To activate this function:
1 After turning off the engine, remove the
remote control.
2 Open the driver’s door.
3 Pull the control stalk all the way towards
the steering wheel.
The low beam headlights and reversing
lights will come on and remain on for
30 seconds when the door is closed.

Time duration and front or rear lights can actually be selected via Tech II

Sorry, I don't have a 9-3ss and didn't feel like tricking GM Owner Central into thinking I did in order to download the owner's manual.
relax friend.. i am not being a jerk.... i just read that same thing in my manual today! I was just hoping to draw attention to the need to look over the manual, it was not a slam... I am sorry if you took it that way...

these dang Saabs have all sorts of things and reading the manual seems to be kinda important....

did you know your headlight washers will not activate at speeds over 125 MPH? ;)

^^good chuckles...

Sidenote, alot of times things get mis-interpreted in here...brevity is sometimes thought of as rudeness, sometimes what meant as humor by the author does not read that way to the OP, or others...

and Sarcasm...some don't see it, some see it funny and it pisses other people off.

Now Just go read the Manual and don't bother us anymore.....

JK;)

I didn't take it as a slam and didn't mean to respond in a way that might make it look like I did.

As for the 125mph thing, have you ever stuck your arm out the window moving at any kind of speed? The wind force is pretty impressive even at 60mph, let alone 125. The 9-5 has the washers pop out of the bumper, and I assume that the little bumper covers would turn into sails and rip and the jets out. Plus the high-pressure force of the washer fluid shooting out would just be negated by the wind so they would be pretty useless. You would just get washer fluid stripes down the sides of your car.

OK, so we're deeply into the esoteric, but only some years of the SS have pop up washers. My 04 has just jets sitting out on the bumper. I wonder if these work at speed? I don't remember my owners manual commenting on operations above 125 anyhow (I'm guessing the US manuals are mute on anything that might happen at these speeds).

I'm sure the same rules apply to the non-pop-up washers. The wind force would disperse any fluid that comes out of them rendering them useless.

My 04 has the sills, don't know if someone installed them though or if they came with the factory. I don't know its a toss up for me I kind of like the looks of the worts.:cheesy:

Hold the oblong button down a short time. And you get follow me home with headlights. Hold the oblong button down a long time. And you get four way flashers and horn sound. To chase car jackers away.
We have just gone through this, that is not follow me home lighting when you hold that button, you get City Lights and Taillights, it is referred to as Halo Lighting. Follow me Home/Courtesy Lighting is operated by the Signal Stalk.....stated in the manual this way:

1 After turning off the engine, remove the
remote control.
2 Open the driver’s door.
3 Pull the control stalk all the way towards
the steering wheel.
The low beam headlights and reversing
lights will come on and remain on for
30 seconds when the door is closed.

(Time duration and front or rear lights can actually be selected via Tech II)

It is referred to as "Courtesy Lighting" in the manual and "Follow Me Home" in the Tech II Directions.

And yes it is also the Panic Alarm Button.
