How do I get an electric seat out that doesn't move backwards or forwards?
Thanks in advance
My seat has gotten stuck twice, but both times I've been able to fix it by nudging at the seat motor's axles (under the front of the seat), the axle should be a bit bent in the middle (between the motor and the rail) IIRC. You can even take the axle out on one side, and sometimes that's enough to get the other side to actually start rolling a little, and maybe it helps to get them levelled out as well in case the seat's gotten slightly angled from just one side engaging, but I think what did it for me was just a small nudge on the axle so that it jumps into its slightly bent shape again.

Thanks for the info.
The seat won't move at all but drivers one does
It's for my friend who's breaking the car and he wants to put the seats into his car.
Is there any way of doing it manually?
Not that I know of unfortunately as I haven't been in that situation myself. As far as I can remember, there wasn't any easy way to move the seat manually, even after taking out the motor's axle. Assuming you've checked the fuse (and do you hear anything, like a thud/click or something - mine at least made a little noise like that when pushing the switch), I'd check if the axle is moving at all after taking it out of its socket in the rail on one side, and if so try messing with the axles like I mentioned. If not, after verifying that the motor gets its current, maybe the easiest thing to do is replacing the motor if you can find one for cheap on the scrapyard or aftermarket if you can't reach those bolts. But it seems far fetched that it's the motor's fault as it doesn't get used all that much, in my case anyway.

2006 9-3 Aero convertible - owned for 10 years. The 'SDIC' (vertical panel of buttons -inc the up/down for the top, clear, customize, ESP, etc - to left of radio and air vent) all stopped working. Saw somewhere to simply disconnect the battery for 10-20 minutes, reconnect. Like a magical-miracle, the SDIC buttons all started working...dumb question - why?
Thanks,
JDH

Who knows. Maybe Mercury is in retrograde.

A Tech II would be helpful here. It's kind of a necessity to keep these cars on the road.

But if it doesn't happen for another ten years, why worry about it?
