9000 Aero seats in c900 convertible

I just got the 9000 aero seats. Since my front seats in a 92' c900 convertible are quite worn out I wonder if they would fit right in or will there be some baseplate modifications necessary? (I would swap front seats only). I know that the 9000 seats don't fold, but I could live with that.

Thanks for any advice; I searched for the old threads, but I still couldn't figure it quite out.

If the seats are otherwise the same style, you could just change the skins. It's easier than it sounds and would eliminate the problem of the seats not folding. The only real issue you might find is if one set is manual and the other electrical; you might have to modify the bottom skin just slightly. Obviously your newer skins wouldn't have the latch hole in the top portion, but you could remedy that easily too.

THe seats will bolt in.
If they are electric (pref memory) the folding is not an issue, as they move forward and tilt to give better access than the folding ones in the c900.
A relatively simple mod to the power supply to the electrics can also power these when the interior lights are switched on by opening a door.

If I remeber correctly there is a differnece re position of seat either youcan go further back or further forward than with the c900, but is' not much difference, if you do change the skins and have to cut out for the back lever do it very carefully or you will have a crappy looking seat, I had to replace the cable mecahnism and you can only get one type mine were the other, so had to cut a new hole/slot, but although I was very carefull it was'nt a 100% job, but also I still have the original slot about 2" below gggrr

I'm sitting in my basement refurbishing a set of aero seats for my SPG right now. :)

You cannot swap skins from an aero seat to a normal seat. There are bolster supports that would have to welded on. In order to make it work. I was considering this, but have decided to add memory functionality to the passenger seat and a relay that allows them to operate when the interior lights are on. I take my kids to school in my car and need them to fold. If you don't often have backseat passengers in your vert, just bolt them in.

Here's a writeup I put together last summer when I installed 9k aero seats in my c900. I modified the original c900 frames to accept the 9k aero pads and skins. Worked great, and now I can flip them forward.

You can install the 9k aero seats right into the c900 if you have electric seats. But the 9k seats were not designed to flip forward. Most people just move them as far forward as possible to get in the back, but that wasn't enough for me. If you have access to a MIG welder, it only takes a short amount of time to modify the seats.

I am still tempted to do it this way, but I like the lumbar support and I would have to find power 900 seats to use as donors since I don't have any.

I think I am going to get the motors with the position sensors and memory controller out of a 9000 seat which should be much easier to find and do it that way for the passenger side instead. You could send me yours from your drivers side aero seat and get them out of your garage. :)

I made mine foldable too, including the lumbar support.

If you know your way with a grinder/cutter and welding machine you have the seats modified in an afternoon. If you just move the extra supports over and don't care about electric seats, than it's even easier. (I only kept my seat electric, the passenger side is manual)

Nice work. I wish aero back seats would fit the convertible, but it is so much narrower back there, even with serious modification it probably would look butchered. I'm planning to keep my original rear seat and just add aero rear headrests.

That said I always thought it would be really cool to replace the rear seat with some real buckets, like in the BMW 850IL
