What's the proper way to remove the black molding/trim around the car?

I'm tired of the black plastic getting faded and looking gray. I want to match it up to the color of the car and i've seen some 9-3's like this. I tried to remove one from the door and I think I broke a clip or it was already broken. I stopped to consult with someone here who is familiar with the proper way to this. I want to say it slides out but pulling it caused damage. Any thoughts?

They literally just pull off, i used a screwdriver to prise them initially then theres enough room to do the rest with your fingers

it'll seem like you're about to break it as you're taking it off, but their quite flexible, just make sure to pry as close to the pegs as you can and apply a steady, even pressure, don't reef on it or you can risk damaging the brackets that hold the pegs. they make a snapping noise akin to plastic breaking coming off, but it's normal, you'll see when you get it off

I took them all off today, worked like a charm, thanks.. I ended up going with plasti dip since i used it to seal some rubber on the top of my windshield.. I tested a corner to see how it would look before i did them all..

The only tricky part was the middle sides.. when popping the one further back of the two, start from the side that is closest to the rear of the car, because the end piece has a slight hook that slides out instead of pops and it is easy to slide out when the rest of that trim strip is already popped out..

real easy if you start from the back side on that strip and if your strips are set up like mine.. :)
