Trying to justify purchase of a 97 NG900 2.0 L w/ Turbo to wife!! :cheesy:
So, what kind of miles per gallon or kilometers per liter do you get? The official Saab 900 brochure lists around 20 MPG in the city, and about 27 highway.

Thanks.

Fly,

My '99 9-3SE autobox was getting around 22mpg overall. I then had to change my driving style a little to suit the law (only until end of august...) & added some techron concentrate fuel injector cleaner and now, combined highway / 'city' (I do live in Maine; city I don't live in, but small towns/back roads) I get just around 26/MPG. Which, for an automatic, slightly modified, isn't too shabby IMO.

Really depends on driving style, as well. If I go out and race around for a day, I'll get 17MPG or so; 70-75 highway & perhaps 5-6 lbs of boost as far as 'from a stop acceleration' goes has gained me 26, 27 on those pokey days...

Standards usually fare about 2MPG less consumption than an autobox...

I get 24.5 to 26.0 city,27.0 to 30.0 highway.ngk iridum 0.40 gap,Mobil 1 syn. 5w-30.Mann filter.
With one or two for me, but it is an automatic, doing 5 to 10 miles at a shot.

rrsaab, is yours and auto or stick ??

Using 5w-20 will improve the mileage, perhaps as much as 0.1 mpg !!
Diesel will yield a 20% improvement or so....

I have a 94 NG900 V6 manual and I get around 26mpg city and highway. City only I can usually do 20-21mpg. Highway its around 28-30mpg depending on how fast I'm driving :cheesy:. My brother has a 97 NG900 turbo manual and he only gets around 24mpg city and highway, but I'm not sure where he shifts.

On a side note I got in my car and was driving along the other day and I decided to check my MPG...it read 81mpg--needless to say it was on its way down but I did manage to snap a pic

My 94 900s 2.3 / 5speed gets 36.4 highway ... Always use premium 91
and i drive it hard..

Just did a run from vegas to OC california yesterday and it was in the 90's with A/C running and me doing 85mph cruise. A solid 36.4mpg. Freaking awesome!!! It has 144k miles and still going.. always dealer maintained.

268 miles and still have just over half of my gas tank left!

With regards to the original subject, and strictly for informational purposes: :)

In Europe, we don't measure gas mileage; but rather "mile gassage" if you know what I'm getting at. Thus, the unit of measurement isn't "kilometers per liter", but "liters per kilometer" - although, this works out to a rather odd number so the standard unit throughout Europe is "liters per 100 kms".

Oh yeah, and my ng900 2,3i auto wants about 8 liters/100km highway, and about 12 in city driving.

I learn something new every day.

For what it's worth, I was bidding on eBay for a 1997 900 SE Turbo, 5 speed with only 59k miles on it. Lost bidding, so it's going to be another long search. Wife was not thrilled at the prospect of my spending that kind of money anyway, but for $6,100, I know I missed out on a great deal. Pretty bummed out today. Gotta snap out of this, and get on with finding another one. Car, that is....not wife. :cheesy:

Yeah, dude, I'm with you! '98 900SE Turbo about 17 mpg city/20-22 mpg highway. What the heck are we doing wrong?
my commute to work is only about 2 miles in city traffic, so im sure the constant stop and go, combined with getting to work just soon after its warmed up is hurting me. havent gotten any decent extended highway driving in to see what id get.

Beanz,

My car was getting 20-22mpg, now getting 25-27mpg... 99 Automagic box.

Clean your filters, install new plugs, replace fuel filter, run some techron concentrate fuel injector cleaner (THIS SPECIFIC CLEANER), pull the battery for ~ 5-10 minutes, and start to drive a little more 'normal' -- Normal acceleration seems to be the key, as opposed to 'high speeds'.

Your milage will suffer a tad if you're driving 85mph NOT 65mph, but not so much in comparison to the 0-> 35MPH starts in a flash

Do those four things and drive a little more understandably, and I bet you'll rise by 2-4 MPG...

Here's one for our collective grey matter; most of you are well aware of my conversion from 2.5 to 3.0 V6; out on the open road it is not noticeably worse on fuel, but around the town  24mpg is the norm now [imperial gallon] it used to be about 26.5mpg. Out on a run they all pull in over 30mpg, even the automatic.
