Liqui Moly oil additives -- any experiences out there?

I've started experiencing engine oil consumption on my 2005 9-3 Aero with 160,000 miles on it (it's always had Mobile1 full synthetic). My trusted local mechanic (European shop, FWIW) advised I try a can of Liqui Moly MoS2 Anti-Friction Engine Treatment. With the historical sludge issues Saab engines have, I do pause at the thought of putting anything "additional" into my engine. Do any of you have experience with this product?

As well, I'm considering using Liqui Moly's Pro-Line Engine Flush before my next oil change to clean things out. And, I'm eyeing their Motor Oil Saver as possibly a more appropriate product for my problem.

The MoS2 Anti-Friction Treatment doesn't give recommended application frequency, but the Motor Oil Saver recommends adding it every 20,000 miles.

Do any of you have experience with any of these products?

Thanks is advance!

I go by Saab's advice in the Owner's Manual. And that is to not use additives.

I will also state that I don't believe that any of those liquids are going to solve your problem.

You need to investigate what the problem actually is.

I have a pile of 1950s Popular Mechanix and similar magazines, and every issue is full of ads for magical additives that are going to cure the oil burning in your '49 Studebaker. I don't believe any of them.

I don’t have experience with the specific products you referred to however I would say that if you are worried about sludge taking off the valve cover for a quick look wouldn’t be too difficult. Multiple issues may cause oil consumption & I would be wary of adding products blindly.

The downside of additives (which I have seen occur) is that if they loosen deposits those deposits may then clog the smaller oil galleys or filter if a repeat oil change isn’t done shortly after using them.

How much oil consumption for how many miles between oil changes? A 16+ year old GM ecotec engine with 160k miles on it may well burn and or leak oil. Find a leak, fix it. If it burns, throw some Snake Oil in it. Your money.
