Mods can this be stickied Please!!!!!! In the "How To" section ofcourse!

I went ahead and took pictures while I replaced the EVAP purge Valve solenoid last night. I figured since I haven't been the only one to do this repair I might as well make a "How To."

First off, the reason I replaced the EVAP Purge valve is because my car threw a P0496 Code. There was some talk about this in this recent thread: http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123758&highlight=evap+purge . I posted some WIS instructions and a fellow SaabCentral Member did the repair and I finally ordered my part and followed suit.

The Purge Valve is listed as Part # 12593761 and the part that arrived at my house was a Bosch unit with #12611802 printed on it. YERASIMOS also had that experience in the aforementioned thread.

Tools needed:
-Fingers
-10mm Socket

Once I finished my Check engine light immediately disapeared. Others had the same experience.

Good Luck, and Remember: (*lame disclaimer*) This is a demonstration of my experiences and I cannot be held responsible for any problems or issues that arise if you attempt the repair.

Anyway, Now on to the How To part. I will post the WIS instructions and the Pictures that I took.

This is a very common part and is still used on many new GM cars today. You can get them at rockauto for $20 which is what I did and its been fine for over a year. Since this part is so cheap to buy I would suggest you replace it whenever you are changing spark plugs or rear coils on the V6 since its such a pain to get in there and you have to remove it anyway to get to the plugs.

Hello All,

I successfully changed my purge valve thanks to Ferms. I used the part from EEuroParts, but it turns out it was the same part as the GM one, bracket and all. It does come with a year warranty though.

One tip I would give is to actually remove the bracket in step 8. It is not necessary, but makes removing the hose with the black connector and swapping the valves much easier. Here are some picks of the bracket with new valve:

Brake boost check valve

Just thought it worthwhile to post this current link to a replacement brake booster vacuum check valve line as there has been discussion about this part as well (Step 5 in removal of EVAP Purge Valve). Appears some people just buy a generic check valve and replacing the OEM one. Others cite the need to replace the entire assembly as the rubber line gets hard and cracks as well;

9-3 Aero intake manifold air pressure

Hey guys, I've just replaced all my spark plugs and ignition coils on my 2006 9-3 Aero SportCombi but upon removing the intake manifold to access the coils I found a sensor not plugged anywhere, just loose. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where this goes. I've looked everywhere to see where the wire could reach and couldn't find an specific location. It doesn't seem to affect the performance and neither the CEL came on so far. I'm assuming I've been driving with this thing not plugged for a while. Am I losing performance because of it and what is the function of this sensor? I'm attaching a picture here so you can see what sensor I'm talking about! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Atmospheric pressure sensor

It's an atmospheric pressure sensor, bolts to the bracket the cable tray for the ECM loom goes on....there would be a spare M6 hole on that bracket
the o ring doesn't seal against anything

Hi guys,
I've been experience a rough idle and a sort of shuttering when quickly accelerating (like when passing someone on the highway). I'm getting the P0446 code, and it's saying something about the engine running lean at idle. Will replacing the purge valve fix this issue?

As an aside, I'd say probably 3 out of the last 5 times I've gotten gas, I have trouble getting the car to start right away, but eventually does after a couple tries and has no problem starting any other time. Any idea what that's about?

I am having issues with my 2007 Saab 9-3 Aero cranking over for long periods of times only after refueling completely. Also noticed when trying to accelerate up a hill or to pass a car my car stutters to go. This has to do with the EVAP Purge Valve still correct? I am going to get the part from a parts store, Oriely’s has it listed for $41.99 with a part #CP569. Is this the part I need?
