The alternator in my 07 9-3 2.0T died a little while ago and I ended up replacing it with a remanufactured unit from Autozone (only one I could get reasonably quickly) as well as the 4 year old battery (H6 AGM I think it was, also from Autozone) + a noisy belt tensioner and belt. The car is running great now. However, around 50% of the time, when I start the car I immediately get a battery light and a message saying the battery isn't charging. Voltage immediately after the repair was 13.5-8 at idle, and it soon climbed to a steady ~14.4v. All accessories work and I've driven several hundred miles, so clearly the battery is charging. I can't really locate a pattern about when the light will come on. Usually (but not always, I think) it is fine on the first start of the day. If I drive it a little bit for some quick errand and restart, the light will usually come on. If the light comes off and I shut the car off and restart without actually going anywhere, the light will usually go away. I can't find any rhyme or reason to it.
Autozone tested my battery and charging system, found the battery and alternator to be good and the starter to be bad. Went to change the starter and couldn't get it out because one of the bolt heads was messed up. Took it to a mechanic who isn't a SAAB guy but is honest and on his test the starter was good, so did not replace it.
I have two codes on my TechII: T8 P0626 00 and CIM B2657 00 but no other lights and no symptoms of anything wrong. Apparently those codes mean there could be some issue with the wiring harness, but I don't see anything wrong with the ground cable on the alternator or any other connections. I might be missing it though.
Any ideas? I'm lost. Just going to keep driving it for now but I want it to work as designed and I hate having that light constantly in my face.
