No crank after timing chain replacement.

I am just finishing up a DIY replacement of the valve timing and balance shaft chains. This required removing a large number of bits from the engine. I have everything back in and got to the part where it says to crank the engine without the DIC connected until the oil pressure light goes out. I can't get the starter to crank. There appear to be some abnormal things going on on the instrument panel, as the check engine light flickers a bit before going solid. I don't think I missed reassembling any electrical connectors. I think that the immobilizer isn't letting it start. Any suggestions as to how to proceed? Note that the battery has been out of the car for ~3-4 weeks. The battery is fully charged. I pulled the "Dipped Beam" relay in the U/H fuse block to diagnose without the headlights drawing the batter down. 2005 9-5 Wagon ATX. I plan to check the neutral safety switch next.

The problem solved itself. I tried it after the battery had been connected for about an hour and away it went. I started the engine and ran it for a few minutes. Now I have to deal with an oil leak between the timing cover and the cylinder head on the firewall side .

GRRR. It is doing it again. It appears to be the immobiliser preventing the starter and fuel pump from energizing. I get a steady CEL and ESP light. Any Ideas as to how to circumvent this? I have tried both keys. I have tried locking and unlocking. The battery is right up to full charge.

I just had a palm-plant-on-face moment. The negative battery cable attaches to the transmission at the front engine mount bracket. I have this loose, ergo not enough juice to pull in the starter. I think this is the same as last time, but I didn't make the "connection".
