I was lowering my back seat with the sqweeze handle and it broke. Sad. Is this a relatively straightforward fix or do I need to buy a whole new metel unit to put on the back seat?
Thanks ahead

there is a circular spring pin than fixes it to the rod. go to the breakers and get a pair off(then always got a spare:cheesy: ), but have a look at removing yours first so you do not break the replacement, and know what tools you need to remove as cannot remember how easy /hard it is. might be a hammer/ nail and pair of pliers.
when new one fixed always remember to press seat towards back before pulling lever, as that is the main cause of breakage as the pressure involved to release the spring and hook is considerable, but drastically reduced just by pressing the seat back.
It's like putting our 900's in forward gear before selecting reverse, it helps:D

Thanks. I didn't know about pushing it back first. Guess I was a little heavy handed.I usually keep the seat down for my golden retriever but now that I carry a baby in the car seat it goes up and down more often.I found a latch on the back on the right side and it released the seat back down separate from the rest of the back. I didn't even know that it did that! Now I have trouble getting it to lock again. I must say, I love my SAAB and fixing these little things are kind of an adventure.
So you're saying I could go to a pick and pull and get this? Is there any kind of schematic I can look at or is it pretty straightforward? I know whenI replaced my headlamp there was a schematic that helped.

Well, I have the handle in my hot little hand. So It's a 2 part affair. The spring goes between them. There is a cable that runs inside the backseat unit. I guess what I do is put the bottom part of the handle in, hook it around the cable, drop in the spring and top part and screw it down and vuala! After having to take everything apart to replace the headlight I figured it would be a bigger deal than that. So am I right? Simple simple?
Still haven't figured out the split seat latch. That's next.

Sorry about the forum thing. What I have in my hand is the broken handle. Just trying to figure out what I'm looking at. Can't see a rod inside the metel unit. I have one handle on the driver side. There are also these red tabs on each side that you push in for something that says warning something. It seems there would be an alternate way to make the seat go back and forth.
