04 Saab 93 arc 2.0T H/O auto Transmission issues

I recently bought this Saab, it has 120k on the motor, runs and drives beautiful. The last Saab I had was the same year, but its a linear, 5spd manual 2.0t not the high output version. I'm used to manual shift, so there's a chance I'm somewhat getting used to how the automatics shift. Occasionally the transmission seems to shift a little funny imo... once or twice there was a clear slip. And I often smell what seems to be antifreeze and/or brakes when I come home from driving. Never overheated or anything. The coolant level seems to have stayed the same since I got it.. I did notice what looks to me like engine oil spread across the frame under the motor. I'm guessing it's a valve cover leak.. I've been wanting to check the tranny dip stick but it's hard as hell to get my hand in there to get the bolt off and pull the green stick up.. It has thrown a few codes. First ones I got were P1456 and P1442. Then sometime (1-3days) after those I got the P0735 (Gear 5 wrong ratio) and the screen in the car said something like "Gearbox malfunction, limited performance, see saab dealer". But for the most part, it seems to drive and shift perfect. Certainly sounds like it runs perfectly.. I'm hoping maybe the oil leak from the valve cover is possibly leaking on a sensor or electrical component and maybe thats causing the occasional engine light and codes.. or possibly another minor issue thats causing it to shift or run wrong that makes the car throw the more serious p0735 code? Btw the engine light went off on its own last time, but eventually came back on again. Any help and/or advice will be greatly appreciated. I can't afford to bring it into a shop.

Also another quick question. I still have my 04 Saab linear 2.0t with the 5spd manual transmission, is that a major project to put that manual transmission into my current automatic Saab Arc 2.0T of the same year 2004? It would match up with the high output Arc? I know my linear 5speed has less HP and my current Arc has a higher output motor or turbo, wondering if that matters.. Is there a lot more that goes into it than I'm realizing? That's something I'm considering doing myself or paying a mechanically advanced friend of mine to do. Just not sure if there's computer and programming ECT stuff that would make it harder than it seems. Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

I think you're getting coolant into the gearbox. Radiator replacement and tranny fluid change should be on your radar.

As far as a swap, I know of this thread, I dont know of any others with a better documentation

If you want to make the slushbox more stout Oregon Performance has a pricey rebuild kit.

Be well

It is a major project to swap the gearbox and you would need to do a bunch of programming with the Tech2 to accommodate.

If you have a donor car it will be easier because you won't spend so much time searching for parts, but it's going to be an intensive project regardless.

Saab used the 5-speed as stock with the B207R in 2006, so it's no highly unusual configuration to bolt that box up to the high output engine.

Having owned both a manual and an automatic 9-3, I can't say enough how much better the car is with the manual--smoothness, acceleration, fuel economy, everything. That automatic gearbox is not great, and the five speed manual is a very good box.
