Windshield wiper problem and fix

Last night under heavy rain my wipers stopped moving........I can hear the motor spinning from behind the dash and sounds normal under all speeds....but the wipers seem to be too heavy or with high friction so the motor doesnt have enough power to move them.....

from what I just described should this be a problem with the transmission and not the motor?

is it even possible that a little wd40 will do the trick? To me it senses as it finds it difficult to run.It just stucks on starting position and only thing you can hear is the motor spinning.

If I go outside and give a little push with my hand it goes all the way and back to its position again.

a little update.......should the wiper transmission be loose at the greased joint spot?

Yesterday I ve gone under the plastic trim and saw that the transmission felt a bit loose on driver side where a greased/oiled junction is.

Should this be completely steady or the loose thing has to do anything with the circled movement?

well.......final update. I have purchased the wiper motor and transmission and done the installation myself. I have taken a lot of pictures and will start writing the how-to guide right now. It will be complete in a couple of hours.
