My car will not restart sometimes if I shut it off to run into the store or get gas or anything else. I get a SID message that says traction control failure and also stability failure, please take to dealer. The car refuses to even try to turn over. The only way to get it to start again is to wait 10 to 15 minutes and it magically decides nothing was ever wrong and the car runs fine for weeks, months, or sometimes days.
A few facts.
- It always starts the first time after sitting out all night or staying in one position for more than a few hours.
- It only seems to do this in cold weather. Generally below freezing. I haven't had a single issue with it since last winter.
- Yes, I have a brand new battery.
- Yes, I took it to the mechanic;
ESP U210500 - ECM missing on bus
He couldn't find any literature on it and told me I should bring it to the dealer for a diagnostic there.
Have any of you guys seen this message or code or would know where to look to diagnose this? It seems to me that there might be a short somewhere, or a bad sensor. I did have both front springs replaced, and I wonder if one of the broken pieces of the spring might have messed up an ABS sensor or something of the sort.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

The Tech II code that I have written down from the mechanic is:
ESP U210500 - ECM missing on bus
