OK, fixed by disconnecting the battery completely for a few minutes then putting the terminals back in the correct order... the beep came back, beeped twice, then dissapeared....

Electronic squeal? Mechanical? Did you do anything else or just pull batt?

 

Just disconnected the terminal. Electrical squeel, the only thing I can compare it to is a personal attack alarm, just not THAT loud. When I first disconnected the battery term I accidentally touched the lead back onto the battery terminal....there was then an alarm sound coming from the same place for a few seconds. After fully reconnecting the battery it just turned to a constant squeal. Defiantly coming from the fuse box area behind the rear passenger side cluster...

I've never had any sort of noise after disconnecting the Batt. While taking my hub out though I did get a low electrical humming noise with a couple beeps when the wheels spun with the car off. Not sure if it's the same, but I have no idea what it was lol.

 

Possibly, at least its gone now

The alarm siren for the convertible is located on the left side of the boot - it was probably that.
