Thought I`d show the state of mine & see if anyone can beat it.
The only mark I made was the chisel cut @ 1 o`clock, which eventually shifted it.
I`m in search of the mechanic who refitted it at the last oil change, and think I may `install` it in a suitable orifice...........

the reason for rounding off the sump plug is by using the wrong type spanner, you should use a 1/2 inch round , then my question was , why is every other F ing bolt heid on this car METRIC when after buying a new plug i put a caliper on it and it read 12.5mm.. [1/2 inch] so as far as im concerned thats it.cos at the next oil change on with the 1/2 inch round ,aff it came ,an oan it went, easy peasy lemon squeezy.[to wash yer hauns way], try for yoursells next time, but if you can get right under it MR MOLE GRIPS do an excellent job.;)

THE best tool to use would be a 13mm SINGLE hexagon socket and bar. Single hexagon just means there are 6 sides in the socket as opposed to a double hexagon which has 12 sides. You are then getting maximum surface area contact and spreading the load across the bung surface.

the nut measured 12.5mm on a digital caliper,the1/2 spanner fitted perfectly no movement at all as a matter of fact i had to give it a slap to get it off.[due to not cleaning the **** aff it first] no damage to the nut or the spanner whatsoever,by the way the plug came fae parts fur saabs, and i also dont need advice on which type of tooling to use ,as i have completed this task on numerous occassions using the same 1/2 spanner every time,[ after chisling the first 1 aff] i made sure that wouldn`t happen again so the best tool for the job was sourced and the rest is history.;) and i was geeing him advice,
