Hi All I've got worn valve guides and I'm wanting to fit new ones in a months time.
Can anyone tell me if it's a really hard job? do you need any special tools? It's really embarrassing starting the saab from cold and all this blue smoke flooding the streets.
I've another small smoke issue, Sometimes when stopped I can see a little white smoke coming from the front right of the car. it must be coming from the turbo but you can't find where, as when the fan kicks in it blows all the smoke away. Is it water burning?

white smoke is I think oil on the manifold or turbo.or is that bluish smoke?

It could be blueish and there is oil around the turbo so it should be just that oil burning off.

My last 900 would do this. Could never get the valve cover to seal right. At every stop sign a little wisp of smoke would come up from the right fender

You would have to remove and strip down the the cylinder head in order to replace the valve guides. I'd be very sure that the guides are causing the problem before embarking on that course.

The guides should be removed and pressed into place using a precision hydraulic press.
