Hello to all on the forum,

This looks like a great community of Saab owners.

I've just recently bought a 2005 9-5 Aero wagon with 57K km. It seems like a great car, and I intend to keep it for 10 years or more, and do most if not all of the necessary maintenance and repairs myself.

I've never owned or even driven a Saab before. I'd been looking for a replacement for my trusty but rusty 89 Volvo turbo wagon. Saw it, drove, liked it, bought it. I guess I'm drawn to Swedish engineering :).

I purchased a WIS DVD and it has 2 options for the 9-5. They are 9-5 (9600) or 9-5 (9650). I can't seem to find any information on the web about the differences, and which one I should be referring to in the WIS. All search results seem to acknowledge that both numbers are valid, but that seems to be it.

Does anyone know what the differences are, and should I be concerned?

9600 is the 1998 thru 2009 "Old Generation" 9-5.

9650 is the 2010 and 2011 "New Generation" 9-5.

Although if you open the WIS you will discover that the OG 9-5 was apparently sold in some countries in 2010 as that model year is a valid choice for both the 9600 and 9650 instruction sets.
