Just wondering if anyone else has some winter projects for there cars. I am going to be doing a few things on mine like deleting a/c compressor to better fit my IC piping, Full 3in exhaust ( going to make with a friend of mine ), Upgrading the turbo to hopefully a 18T, but depends on the cash flow, some suspension work, and then a ecu tune. And Im going to be finishing my ongoing custom dash face from last summer.

Anyone else got big plans? Im parking my car this winter and driving a pos 95' tracer in order to be able to take my time and work on all the stuff but come next spring I'll have a car to be recon'd with!

as with you, money is the biggest limiter. But if things go nice.....

  1. 18t upgrade with high performance re build
  2. cut a hole in my hood and have it tunred into an NACA duct.
  3. finish sealing off my intake as well as completing all heat management.
  4. my favorite dream: Stg 4 ECU tune
  5. snow performance w/m injection kit.
Obviously I dont expect to do all of these so I'm just thinking about which to choose.

Heated seats would be my no 1 winter project - I still can't believe Saab didn't fit them as standasd on an SE:evil: here in the UK. It's really uncomfortable sitting on cold leather first thing on a cold morning. Next I've got to sort out some headlight washer system - the previous owner removed the wiper motors as they had broken and last night it was quite obvious that the layer of road dirt that was sticking to the lenses was drasticaly reducing the beam power. I think I'll hook up some kind of spray with jets mounted on the top of the bumper.

I have some plans this winter, nothing major, but it should keep me busy.

-finish installing my rebuilt turbo
-Install GS rear sway bar
-Install GS motor and trans mounts
-Install new oil pan (mine cracked)
-Change cabin filter
-Change fuel filter
-Change spark plug
As soon as I get the turbo in, it’s all down hill, I can’t wait to have my car running again:cheesy: (it’s been over a month driving my Volvo).

i got the wing to make this winter break

I wanna make a rear strut brace too, and i'm propably gonna try making a rear sway bar.

I broke my skid guard again (i make them out of old truck liners, they work pretty good for acouple rallys) anyways i was looking at saab savior website and they had a nice aluminum one for like 160 bucks, and since that much aluminum would cost me 60 bucks anyways and fabricating it to fit that nicely is a half day project, i think i might just save myself the hassle and buy it

I need new front pads

ohh and i gotta cover the hole i made fixing the fuel pump

so not too much a good weekends work

Something like this?

Or something more subtle similar to this?

Or less subtle?

Good luck :cheesy:

Over the winter, I'm doing a few things too. Refinish the Viggen wheels, completing the custom grille and a couple of other things too.
I'm still debating how I want t0 do it. I know Ill have one that forces air onto my open air that would look similar to the second one you posted. However I also kind of like the 2 triangle cut out idea as well.

I'm not sure yet.

oh yeah, and the most important one, figure out why my car is going crazy at full throttle at anything above 4000rpm. That's project no. 1

Going to focus on the engine during the winter/spring/(summer).
As so often money is the main concern so the timetable is far from fixed.

*Rebuild block with renewed bearings, timing chain kit and balance shaft kit, gaskets..
*Cylinders bored to first oversize
*JE forged pistons (90,5mm)
*Custom 3" intake
*Custom header
*Modded Downpipe
*Garrett GT3071R-WG A/R 0,86 (Also looking into other possibilities)
*RC Racing 750cc injectors
*Bosch 040 fuelpump
*Stock paper filter in stock box (resonator removed)
*Maptun custom software
*SPEC Stage 3 disc with Viggen pressure plate
*Possibly new IC if current one can't handle the increased power.
*Maybe new rear muffler (Don't find the JT that sexy )

Building the block is first on the list and then I'm going to aquire all the other parts bit by bit depending on the personal economy :p

There's also a few paint imperfections on the car that I really would like to get sorted out but they might have to wait for the summer.

My only goal for the winter is to obtain a C900 to drive while the 9000 becomes a 400+ horsepower rocket ship, and then driven to work every day.

I am finishing the suspension/brake build up. Currently in stock an assembled are:

Refurbed rear axle with Poly bushings
02-04 9-5 Aero rear brakes incl. Nick T's rear lines.
Refurbed front spindles
99-01 Viggen/Aero front brakes.

I just need to get the shocks, springs, and SS lines and it will be all set.

I also have a motor that will go out to the machine shop come Feb.
