My wheels are starting to look pretty ragged. It seems as though the clear coat or what ever they put on is starting to flake off, so in some parts its perfectly shiny in others its flaky and dull, so I'm trying to figure how to correct this problem. I don't really want to have to take the tires off though. Am I able to just sand it down and use some aircraft remover etc then polish it like mad or do I have to apply some sort of clear coat? If I have to apply any clear, am I able to do this without taking the tires off? I wouldn't mind taking them off but this seems like it will take some time and I only have one set of wheels...

same problem for me my man. mine are looking pretty tired (well, two of them are) so im going to refinish them soon

you need to use aircraft stripper, grind them down to where all the corrosion is gone. then you can just repolish after that and you should be good to go.

i'm taking a stab at doing mine this spring, although its been pretty warm here considering its february eh? maybe ill try in a few weeks.

PS: no clear coat NEEDED, although it wouldnt hurt. a polish will restore them to their luster
