I heard today after getting my wheels aligned that my driver's side wheel bearing is shot. The Bentley Manual says that I need to press the old bearing out and the new bearing in. Seeing that I don't have a hydraulic press. I think I will let the guys that aligned my wheels do it. They were going to charge me approx $250. Is this a fair price. Is there anyway for me to do this job without a hydraulic press and without spending hours trying to get the bearings out and then in?

It's time consuming job. Mine took me at least 4 hours plus a $50 bearing. If they are also including alignment I guess their price is fair.

Provided you have the tools you could pull it all apart yourself and have a shop press the bearing into the hub. That shouldn't cost more than $20 if they know what they are doing.

One more thing, they will probably ding you for some ball joints and CV boots on top of that price.
