Hi saab fans,

In the near future I will perform wheel arch surgery on my 9-5 2001, by cutting out rust and welding in fresh steel.

I wonder if anyone knows how to prevent that the wheels arch simply rusts again?

I am going to coat the inside of the wheel arch with a rubber coating (after primer and paint), which prevents stone chips. But it seems like the real problem is the inner plastic wheel arch that leads water and dirt down onto the wheel arch lip, which over time will cause the lip to rust.
I don't know if my assumptions are correct.

What can i do to prevent my wheel arch weld repair from rusting again?

Most modern automotive primers are very good at preventing rust. You could also look at something like POR-15 too which, assuming proper prep work, is virtually impervious.

As you are in Denmark, you can buy anti-rust from Biltema or other car spare parts store.
