I have a rear hand braked 900 rear caliper in pieces, a 16 year old ATE unit. (i'd sheared off the bleed screw and had to drill it out).
I'm waiting for a mail order motor bike bleed screw M7x1 before it goes back together.
Inside the piston is the gubbins that does the handbrake self adjust see picture below. Looks very similar to the front handbrake version, diagram below- big coarse threaded nut.
It's all greased up with some grease the colour of vaseline. So what is this grease that is obviously compatible with brake fluid, and doesn't dissolve away in 16 years?

Yep, I tipped brake fluid out of it. The bits in the caliper appear to be sealed, but these bits in the piston run in brake fluid and unknown grease.
