I am currently the proud owner (well lessee) of a 9-3 linear, and im coming up on my lease end and need o figure out what to get next...problem is my dad has worked for gm for 28 years so i'm obligated to get GM. But nothing else out there appeals to me (im 21 years old) excecpt the GTO and i cant afford the insurance.

Is there something i'm missing? or is there something coming out in the future that would be worth hanging out for.

I like my saab but have had mutiple problems and am not sure if i want another.

Try the 9-5. My 2003 has been flawless. So far it is the most fun and reliable car that I have ever owned. It feels the same as the day I drove it off the lot. The japanese cars that I have owned never excited me as a "driver's" car. For example ,I just spent the day with a realtor in his new Lexus 430. Nice, but very boring. The next day, I was in a two year old , higher mileage Acura. What a piece of junk. Furthermore, I could never keep my japanese cars aligned properly. Also the leather and other materials they use are substandard. The brakes don't last with the small rotors they use.I could go on and on.I have driven and owned many cars in my 52 years; the only two brands that satisfy my needs are the BMW and the Saab. The Audi also is a nice driving car, but I don't trust their reliability. The same goes for the Mercedes; my friend has a two year old Mercedes that has had numerous problems including a blown transmission. That's my two cents worth, Good Luck!

thanks i appreciate the input...the 9-5 is a nice car but doesnt really appeal to me, it seems more of an wiser man's car (and yes by wiser i mean older)
GM needs to come out wiht some new cars that are fun and solid and not junky, ie-get rid of all of pontiac and just sell the gto and come up with other cool ocnepts.
is the saturn skyy supposed to be decent?

Why not a 9-2 Aero? There is a $7,000 cash on the vehicle as well...hard to beat.

Why not go with a new 9-3? My '04 Arc has been trouble-free and I would assume the '05's are the same. I'm a big fan of having "fresh new metal" but the 9-3 is aging well and still looks fresh in the middle of its 3rd year. I'd get another.

What about a Linear covertible? Though I don't know what the insurance would be or how much more a month it is, but with your dad's GM employee discount I'm sure you'd get a sweet deal!

Did I mention the Solstice? By the way its based off the epsilon platform, and so is it's Saturn sister the Sky.
Should we guess that cronos likes the new Solstice? :cheesy:

I have to agree, besides the 9.3 (and I'm still in denial that it's GM) I can't think of too many other GM cars that I would drive either. For me it would have to be the GTO or the Solstice.

I just read in that review from switzerland a few threads up that the v6 9-3 will be available here in late august. Im just wondering how much its gonna be and why its not all wheel drive, or if it is.
Did it say "Available in States in August" or just "available in August" ? My understanding is it will be available in Europe (at least most of?) in August (as will the Combi), but we won't see it until Jan or Feb when the Combis start arriving
