That would be one of the earlier 230bhp models, he says he's got an Abbott ECU to take it to 270bhp. Why would you spend all that dough to get it spot on and then sell it?

Well that sale really does look on the face of it a real bargain at 5250.00.It looks to good to be true on all fronts and at that price I am sure someone will take the plunge. However if you spend all that cash on a car of this age you just keep it and run it forever as you will never ever see your money back.I am sure Chris knows where I,m coming from on this ,you just dont sell unless you are really forced to.Also the repairs etc would lead me to believe this motors had a big shunt or something similar.I know the ad states it hasnt but it all makes you think. Whoever buys this would, in my humble opinion, check this car out in every concievable way possible before parting with the cash.Still it makes you think!!!

Very true ;)

Its odd that its a "buy it now" too, its a well written add, most punters wont know all the stuff we do, so why not see if a bidding war pushes it up

Chris I,ve never bought on ebay although I have sold stuff.I presume that buy it now price is his reserve ? If so I dont think we will get much of a bidding war.If it was me I would be straight to view it etc and if happy thats it hand over 5250.00. Even for the age of the car its a good price for an Aero.Mine has 101k on the clock with all he dodgy bits replaced and has been looked after. Not a mark on it but I wouldnt want to sell it if thats all I am looking at.How about you? My motor looks like being with me until I,m 60. But with Superman in your corner it could well be 70!!!

Sounds similar to my Alfa story.

I spent over £6k at an Alfa specialist, on an engine rebuild, skimmed head, lightened clutch, flywheel, crank, uprated cams, uprated valves etc, did want to keep the car forever.

This work was initiated becuse the engine went bang.

The engine went bang again about a year later - apparently when a cam timing wheel disintegrated and cracked the engine block and damaged many parts of the engine.

The engine was rebuilt, but it never seemed like the way it was before, everytime I put my foot down, I was worried something would let go. Then when my first daughter was born and realised that the ride in the back was too firm, you know the rest of the story...

Ask yourself (you probably know already) why the engine was rebuilt, although the work's been done and paid for, the driver probably feels worried about the car when pushing on, lost confidence in car etc.

I sold my Alfa for £3000 after spending a lot of money on it - you can only sell it for it's market value, not for how much you've sunk into it ;oops:
