When replacing your springs, what tool did you use to get the strut hat off the assembly? There's a bolt on the top of the piston, but the piston has a hex key in the middle of it which must be stabilized while removing the bolt.

WIS describes a tool that I have access to. Anyone have any other ideas?

if you are junkin the struts, use an impact gun for removal. do not use for install though because you can tear the seal around the strut rod.

Yeah... pretty sure the stockers have an allen head, same concept though. I've used similar, a socket for the outer nut with a pipe wrench on it and a strong allen (hex) wrench sunk through the middle of the socket. Mine were so tight I had to lay it on the garage floor and jump on it a few times. (I so need to get an impact)

Worked like a charm. Took the rubber boot out of the 3/16 spark plug socket, and sunk the allen head through the middle.
