Hi,

My 93SS is currently in with my dealer (and has been since last Thursday) while they look at weird problems I've (mostly) been having with my passenger door.

Passenger Door problems:
1. The footwell light flickers sometimes, especially if the car is in reverse
2. The window button light also flickers
3. Sometimes the passenger window will jam when open

General but possibly related:
4. Occasionally when I lock the central locking while driving I get 'security system failure - contact service' errors. Saab looked at this a number of months ago and replaced some sort of module (CIM I think), but it still happens from time to time.
5. I recently went out on my motorbike, leaving my girlfriends car in our driveway behind my 93. When she tried to move it with the spare key to get her car out the key would not open the car. She used the emergency key to open the car, (alarm went off of course) but the key would not start the car (or silence the alarm!) and a security system failure message appeared.

The dealer seems to be puzzled and has been throwing parts at the problem, and say they need to keep the car while their senior engineer looks at it and works with Saab technical support.

I'm more than a little concerned that they don't seem to have a clue what's wrong with it. Anyone seen anything similar?

Cheers,
Loo.

I had one problem similar to yours. The lock/unlock toggle was flickering all the time. I took it apart and found there were two green LEDs in there. I couldn't find anything awry with the unit itself. It still flickered.

The problem was solved by disconnecting the main wiring harness for the door, located in the jamb. You push up on the colored part and the thing slides off. I reconnected it and have had no trouble since. Bad connection I guess.

All now seemingly resolved at last. Dealer was having some fun trying to sort it out, and it ended up being a config issue with the door electronics module. Still, all done under the warranty for free and I got a brand new 95 Estate 2.2TDI to run around in while they were fixing it. Was surprised how nice the 95 was to drive, but it's good to be back in my 93 again though :)
