I have a 2005 SAAB 93, petrol cabrio. Over the winter I cocooned it under a cover with an smart battery charger and a tube heater. When I went to put it back on the road I noticed the fault. I did the obvious things, new batteries in the fobs, checked the contacts in the fobs and put a new battery in the car. I also did the disconnect the battery for ten minutes but nothing seems to have fixed the problem .

This is it. I have two remote keys, say key A and key B. I put key A into the lock turn it. The car goes through its checks, starts and runs. When I stop the car I get the display message "key not accepted- contact service" and the key will not start the car. I put key B in , the car starts and runs but when I withdraw the key I get "key not accepted-contact service" and the key will not start the car.
I then go back to key a, which now starts the car, but when I withdraw it, I get the message again, but key B does start the car. What the hell is happening? Please help.

No they dont lock or unlock. I tried a local specialist tp see if the fobs were ok, but he says he needs a pin to get into the security system to reprogram the fobs, but I have never had a pin for the car. Any idea. The local SAAB specialist says his Tech2 can't get these details because he is not a main dealer (nobody is because they ceased trading). Any ideas?

Change "specialist" ASAP.
There is NO PIN code for Saab.

You need TECH2, security access, 1 working fob and 2 NEW ORIGINAL fobs to add.
Only NEW ORIGINAL fob will work, NO EXCEPTIONS!
CIM can hold only 5 fobs max.

If you can not find any real specialist, I can add fobs (I also have fobs). I can even change CIM.
Remember that I am in Vantaa, Finland.

Not sure where this button is, can't see one but I am inclined to think your diagnosis is right. Why would two key fobs die at the same time. It is more likely the switch has broken so I'm going to change it first. When I've got one I'll be back
