My /93 900i appears to be weeping oil from below the rocker/spark plug cover, although it doesn't appear to originate there. In fact it's very difficult to say where it is coming from. There isn't a lot of it - it "wets" the side of the engine casing and settles on the sump guard - no actual drips. It's been like this since I aquired the car 18 months ago and has not got worse, that I can see. The oil is clean, the car never overheats, it runs extremely well and there are no obvious mechanical problems.
Can anyone suggest a cause/solution for this?
Thank you in advance.

If I understand you right, it might be the rubber seal for the crankcase that the PCV valve goes into. This is a small rubber washer on top of the sopark plug cover that can perish with time, causing oil to be left on the PCV hoses and spark plug cover. The plug into the washer should fit snugly and not wiggle about. I replaced mine yesterday - new washer was £1.50 or something from PFS.
