So I just bought an '06 9-3 Aero and I was looking through the owners manual when I came across something weird. The owners manual has a section where it decodes the Vin #; telling what each digit means. The fifth digit is supposed to be an F to decode the car as an Aero. So a typical Aero's first 5 digits would be YS3FF. But mine is YS3FH. The manual doesn't make any mention of an "H" Everything else checks out from the Vin; 2006, 2.8 V6, 6-speed auto. I know it was built in August of 2005 so it was a very early 06 model. Any idea what the H means?

Thanks aerojon. So is it possible my car was originally built for the UK? That would be pretty cool if it was. The steering column is on the left side though, and I believe its the opposite in the UK. Maybe some other American '06 Aero owners can chime in with what they're Vin says?

OK, so I guess its a lot more common than I thought. I tried the vin decoder and everything checked out. I'm still not sure why the owners manual says it should be an F. Maybe a typo, maybe something having to do with it being one of the first V6 Aeros built.. those are my best guesses. I was hoping it would have something to do with why my brake code is AB-BA-CB-DA, which as I understand from an other post on here, is not what an Aero's brake code should be. Here's a link to that post:

not sure if all Aeros are sport chassis option .......... that is what makes the differences in the brakes setup..... what I think about it.
That makes sense. So it looks like I have a normal '06 Aero without the sports chassis option. Thanks to everyone who chimed in to help make sense of this.
