The 9-5, which shares a 2.3 liter engine with the Viggen, is notorious for steering wheel shake at idle. I have two 9-5s, and neither car's engine seems nearly as smooth as the 2.0 liter engine in my 1997 900. I'm curious what Viggen owners think of the smoothness of their engines, especially ones who have also owned a 2.0 liter NG900 or 9-3. Is the Viggen's engine rougher?

I suppose it makes sense that the 2.3 is rougher given the longer stroke... not a great starting place for a four cylinder.

I can't tell a huge difference between 2.0l and 2.3l in the OG9-3. It's there, but I don't find it obtrusive.

I don't have a 9-5 to compare against, but I will note that I feel the 9000 was a bit smoother. I've always blamed the budget engine mounting on the OG9-3, but there was a pretty big gap in ownership there.

If I pull the trigger on a 9-5 wagon I will let you know what I find.
