Spyker chief upbeat as EIB approves Saab loan

The European Investment Bank has given the all clear for the completion of a €400 million loan to Saab Automobile.

The EIB agreed that the loan would be guaranteed by the Swedish state, a statement said.

The European Commission backed the Swedish state-guarantee earlier this month.

"I am very upbeat and very please that the largest barrier in the entire deal is now out of the way," Spyker CEO Victor Muller told news agency TT.

"We are now moving quickly towards a conclusion of the deal. Everything is likely to be done next week."

Spyker said earlier this month that it intended for Saab to turn a profit by 2012, requiring an investment of about a billion dollars.

The Swedish company, which manufactured under 30,000 cars in 2009, hoped to increase this figure to more than 120,000, its chief executive Jan-Åke Jonsson said at the same press conference.

Muller said Spyker would apply for a double listing in London and later possibly also in Stockholm, and would consider delisting from the Amsterdam stock exchange.

"Having a listing in London is a much better way of getting close to investors than staying in Amsterdam," he said.

Proposals to change the new company's name to Saab Spyker Automobiles would be discussed at the next annual general meeting in April.

Muller had reiterated the finalisation of the deal would be conditional on Spyker obtaining the loan from the European Investment Bank.

EDIT:
The new company Spyker-Saab Automobiles will now seek listings on the London Stock Exchange and the Stockholm Stock Exchange, and delist from the Euronext Amsterdam exchange.

A detail, but that the new company, the name is still uncertain, be listed on the Stockholm Exchange as well as London must give Trollhattan a warm feeling of well deserved pride.
Bravo..

^^^^^^ Victor Muller said: "We postponed the decision to change the name of Spyker Cars N.V. to Saab Spyker Automobiles because we need to reach agreement with Swedish aircraft manufacturer Saab AB on the possible use of the Saab trademark in our corporate name. We expect this issue to be resolved at Spyker's Annual General Meeting, scheduled for April 22 2010."

Saab sales were bound to fall............they have not been making that many due to imminent bankcrupcy and no-one was buying as they were waiting to see whether that bankcupcy occurred
The European makes that are mentioned all manufacture small cheap cars whic would have benefited from a boost in sales from the scrappage scheme more than a company such as Saab.

Don' worry its gong to be OK ;) .................I hope

It should be no surprise that they aren't selling anything. There's nothing to buy right now. I was at the only remaining Saab dealer in the Puget Sound area and found only 2 new Saabs for sale. Both were 9-3 convertibles with only moderately interesting options. Not a huge seller this time of year here in Seattle.

Seattle is a very large market for Saab as evidenced by the very large number of them you see driving around every day and the dealer expressed that they would be selling them if they had them. The few xwd vehicles they had come in months earlier left the dealer almost upon arrival. They are very confident that once the cars are available, they will sell well.

Not to even mention the gen pop doesn't even know Saab has been saved yet. And we are expecting sales already? Come on now. Drove past a Saab dealer over the weekend. Not a person on the lot though they had quite a few cars out.
It will change once folks realize they are not folding.
Someone at work just last week saw me walk by his office: "Condolences on your car brand".
I stopped: "You mean congrats, right? It was bought by a Dutch super car manufacturer".
Him: "Oh! Sweet... didn't know that...." ;oops:

Victor Muller drives home in his new 9-5.

Wanted to share this short note from SWade. :)

"Today, Victor Muller heads back to Trollhattan, where he'll meet up with at least one of his sons, and together they'll drive home to Holland in his new Saab 9-5.

Now that's pretty cool."

Outside Saab Automobile´s factory in Trollhättan, Sweden, Muller, CEO of Spyker Cars was handed the keys to a top-of-the-line Saab 9-5 sedan by Saab Automobile CEO Jan Åke Jonsson. It is part of an all-new 9-5 product range which will go on sale later this year.

“I am delighted to take delivery of this stunning new car ahead of our customer orders," said Muller, CEO of Spyker Cars NV, which yesterday completed the acquisition of Saab Automobile AB from General Motors. “The 9-5 will be the first of three exciting new Saab cars which we plan to launch in the next 16 months"

Muller´s car, powered by a 300 hp 2.8L V6, with all-wheel-drive, adaptive chassis control, a head-up information display, a lane departure warning camera and surround sound hi-fi, will spearhead the most sophisticated model range Saab has ever produced.

dear steven,
thank you on behalf of all of us at saab for flying around the world twice to join us in celebrating the saving of saab.it was a great honour to have you with us in sweden to experience the closing first. handhaving you there was a symbolic way of thanking you for all that you have done for the brand, the company, its employees and all of its loyal customers and enthusiasts.in a way your presence was an hommage to all those customers and enthusiasts who stood by saab in its darkest days.now we move on to a better future in which we will-again- need all the support we can get.
best regards,
vic

communicating with the "boss" of a manufacturer should be normal, not exceptional.at spykerowner.com we have section where any owner can write to me directly.i intend to create something similar for saab owners.there are a few more out there than spyker owners but the message is the same: you can communicate with the company's management directly.watch this space.and saabisti, buy a new saab now.we love your business, and we need it now more than ever to grow Saab and make it prosper.thanks for hanging in there.vic
