I have been trying to read all of the info on oils sludge and Saabs. I think I have deduced that the V-6s have not had the volume of problems that the 4 cylinder cars have had.

Mine is a 2001 95 V-6 turbo with 95,000 miles. I have always used Mobil 1 and changed oil and filter at 7,000 miles. It appears the previous owner followed all of Saabs recommended service before I got the car at 50,000 miles. Since I do my own oil changes I doubt I could prove the service schedule since I bought the car.

What are the recommendations for the 2001 V-6 re: sludge? There currently is little to no oil consumption. Exhaust appears normal on starting and running. Should I do the oil analysis? Should I drop the oil pan and inspect?

I dont believe the V6 is affected by the sludge problem.

It is much less of an issue; the V6 does run hot historically and then add a wee turbo.

I would be tempted to be thorough with service and use a flush with each change.
