me and my father were replacing the timing chain, and while tieing the new one to the old one. we got about halfway around the crankshaft and what we used to tie the two broke and now the old one is off and the new one is off. is there any way to put the new timing chain on without the old one? if so please show link or explain how!!!

I don't know of any way to get the new one on without removing the timing chain cover.
Hopefully someone here has a trick for you.
In the meantime you should prepare to remove the timing chain cover to install the new chain.
Best of luck and let us know how you make out.
