The "upgraded bolts" that i got from genuinesaab.com do not fit through the lower opening of the Stanchion Arm  was I supposed to drill it out or is there some trick to make a wider opening?

edit: I will call them tomorrow, but if someone who has done this before has an answer I would like to hear it so i can get it done tonight.

The insert in the steering arms simply presses out. You can use the old bolt as a punch.
I tried this but there is no way that i can see to get this ^[email protected]#*% out I tried a ball joint separator and it wouldn't budge any tips would be appreciated

edit: took me 15 min but i got that ***** out by locking it in a vice and pounding the hell out of it... needless to say i was pissed
now if anyone has tips to get the stanchion bushings out.....

Use a gear puller , add a nut to the threaded end of of puller, some washers and 'pull' the insert out. A lot less violent than the hammer but ...not as much fun.
Ive got a pick of the setup I used - I'll try to find and post it here

Heh...I am facing the same problem as you are and I was wondering as to what would be the best option to deal with this in a humane way :)

Nick,

That would be a great document to add to the paperwork that comes when you order the bushings. It only took me a few minutes to figure out what to do on my own, but it would be nice to have 0 surprises during an install.

Terry
yeah the hammer as a punch thing worked well on the drivers side, but for some reason the passenger's side just did not budge for the longest time

the whole thing (control arms + stanchion arm bushings) took about one evening/night and a morning with just using hand tools so not too bad
