Anyone with a very early C900 that uses the white plastic fuel level sender and the fuel pump wired through the top of the sender changed their car's config to the later metal-can fuel sender with seperated pump and sender wiring plus maybe adifferent fuel gauge (since the white one and metal can one operate different)?

While I'm trying to get parts together to make a new fuel pump assembly for my 81 turbo car, I got thinking (again) about the wiring and fuel sender issues. One of the known issues with the white plastic senders is buring/overheating of the ground terminal as the contact resistance goes up over time.

Curious to know who'd done the mod and what they needed to do. I have saved wiring for the later setup from a car I pulled apart about 10 years ago and metal can senders aren't too hard to find.
