Anyone ever replace the color of the illumination on the insturment panel? I assumed it was going to be a simple fix of replacing some bulbs... I was wrong. I removed it today after already placing a order to superbrightleds.com "those people are great by the way" Anyway, I will just have some extra map lights. So, the cluster has bulbs but they are soldered in. Which won't be easy to replace and even if I was to replace them all I believe 8-9 of them. I would have to use yellow to make what I want to be a dark blue illumination. Since, in between the cluster and the clear housing is some thin plastic that has that ugly green film over it that has been driving me bonkers. Since, the first night I drove it at night I couldn't handle that color. So, much that I have the knob on the illumination turned so far down that I have to hit the map light to see the panel.

If you know of where on the internet I can find that dash mod replacement would you be so kind to post the link. Thanks in advance you all. I did find a cluster that the seller on ebay had for a Envoy but when I changed it to my 9-7x it said it wouldn't fit yet it looks to fit but may not be exactly compatiable with that Saab/GM BUS. Anyway, they wanted to much for it. So, any suggestions will help as well.

i have a trailblazer SS cluster in mine. You need to make sure when you buy one it has the display and the gear selection above the display otherwise it won't work.

as far as I know all the trailblazer platform variant gauges interchange.

Thanks for the info I might have to go that same route as well. I could do without seeing the Trail Blazer illumination when starting up the SAAB. Although, if that's what it takes to get rid of the ugly green than seeing a chevy brand for a few seconds each strart is worth it. Rather than not being able to see my instrument panel at all since I can't stand that ugly green even though some think its a pretty jet green. So, be it but I won't stand looking at it. Who buys a vehicle at night?? Yet, that would have made me do some looking at clusters before even thinking about buying the Saab.

I assume your Saab's SS cluster is in blue illumination since your Trail Blazer SS illumination is in blue and the last time I checked mine lights up Saab 9-7X in ugly green. If, not would you be so kind to let me know what the illumination is on that Chevy cluster.

Sorry it's a little hazy.

It's very easy to see in any light. I had a hard time seeing the stock one if it was really bright outside or at dusk.
When you do the swap use the saab surround with the chrome rings to make it look a little better.

You should also be able to use the ones from an Envoy or Rainier as well.

Tim
I assumed that as well but as soon as I entered the 9-7X on a sellers listing off ebay that I recently found by entering Envoy dash cluster in the search bar. It immediately said due to the information you have entered this product will not fit. Everything looks identical to the Saab 9-7X cluster and I know alot of various parts are cross referenced in Rainier, Envoy, and Trail Blazer. Such as deciding to buy a altenator and entering the Saab 9-7X(360) instead of GMC Envoy only to be recieving the same AC Delco alternator with different prices is at the eyes of the beholder.

I will look at the cross referenced clusters and find the one I like the most. Once I find the one that catches my eye the most I will take the leap and switch out the backing but definetly keep the Saab's chrome guages as OMGtruck pointed out.

I still can't make out the guage color but I did find some on ebay although using Saab 9-7x in search they are all used and can't adjust odometer. Using GM or Chevy I found a company that adjust and can prob. create one for me that will be to my liking for $100 as long as I send my core. Which I have no prob. with as long as the one they send me has crome baffels and blue indiglo leds w/ which ever type of needles I like. That seems to be the best way for me so I will have to give them a email or call very soon.

Factory cluster speedometer VS ss, envoy, rainer, trailblazer

To the best of your knowledge did you lose any of the information menu options? Such as trip 1, " 2, gas mileage, door, oil %, seat belt, ect. I was checking into buying a cluster and the company said "the cluster I was looking at was for 04-05 Trailblazer. Your Saab is not only a 06 but your truck has a different gear selector." I said "your website sais its for a variation of trucks from 02-09" DDS reply " We will fix it " I asked if they had a 06 Trailblazer that had my gear selector. She replied they did but for it to work your plug needs to be attached in the same area. I said it does but she mentioned that it will be a 50% restocking fee if you return it. second thought I'm not sure. Well he can switch out your cluster lights for blue leds for $. Even the info led...no unfortuantly it would not change. Problem I have to use my vehicle and no cluster is illegal so no I can't do that. Also, my guages won't change to any white backgrounds...well sir no they won't. We actually never had anyone call about the Saab 9-7X and our advice is as we said just do a led swap. Otherwise your taking the chance of it not being compatiable.

I am not wanting to donate $150 today so I really need your help on this one. If, any others have done a similar swap maybe you can input on compatiablility issues if any as well. I'm also looking to change climate control digital led out and called on that but store said he had no way of checking to see what color the 06 Trailblazers display is. Anyone know if its jet green or please be blue?

Thanks again, Stefan

my TBSS cluster does everything that my factory did. all indicator lights work as they should, they are a light bluish green when lit, very easy to see but the speedo takes some getting used to since the numbers are somewhat offset.

You MUST buy one that has the separate gear selector(ask me about the Envoy cluster I have and can't use). The ones with out the selector do not have the info screen.

2006 TB LT cluster...not mine...I do know for a fact that an '07 TB LT cluster will interchange.

Thanks, for the quick reply man. 2007 TB LT it is than. I will set off to get that soon. I hope this light bluish green color is more blue than green. At night I dim this Jet green cluster down just cause it doesnt match my head unit. Which has a similar green display that I don't like either so I set it on light blue and dim the speedometer.

Did you swap your climate control out as well to match that light bluish green on that SS cluster?

yea, that white I was thinking about them going as well but I can deal with white and blue its just all the ugly green that I can't stand. So, do you think the 07 LT AC display is the way to go...I also read some where that there are light covers they sell to cover up lights like those. When I get into the dash again I am going to check out that AC climate control and try to see what makes it tick.
