 Courtesy of Big Nev i've joined the double stack rear ARB club, he supplied the extra one all riced up in yellow so I popped mine off and did the same :cheesy:

It is a real easy hit to do, note the slightly bent one  i jacked my car up on the rear beam and bent the ARB in the process.

Close up shot with brake pipes aside for clarity, note my bespoke Aluminium spacers, much lighter than a stack of washers which helps keep unsprung mass to a minimum

Many thanks to all of you that have done this sooner and shared the idea, I do like cheapo upgrades, if I decide that I need more I will remove one and use it as a template to fabricate my own, I fancy going down the tubular route.

My next task is to see why my offside foglight doesn't work, whilst out I can refine and open up the air intake too :cheesy:

Those are cool spacers!
How much weight do you figure you saved? :cheesy:

I'll have to take mine off one of these days and see if installed them correctly since I seem to need a lot more space in between them.

And how about that colour ... you aren't trying to get your Saab to match up with your Cav Vert, are you? :cheesy:

off topic what type and size tyres are those
I've not seen some with such a square profile
what size rims
They're Avon ZZ3's 215 45 ZR17 on 17 x 7.5 rims [100+ Qualifiers as it goes] and yes they do have a very square shoulder to them.

nice tyres :D

I use the same but in 225 all round. Your fronts look different, more like F1's?

Oh, and the AR bars look cool, I'll have to paint mine yellow before I stick it one :)

you noticed my Goodyear eagle F1's on the front  , yes I could not get Avons in 91Y rating so I had to get the eagles instead, i'll go back to Avon as and when they're toast. I used to use 225's but the rubbed everywhere, that stopped with 215's, that was due to the 37mm offset in the wheels it should be about 42mm.

There is an instant change, as I backed the car out the nearside rear wheel caught a rise in the loose surface out the back, the car noticably tilted over, increasing the ARB loading really does reduce the independance of the rear suspension, this i've found reduces some of the finesse of the ride, but for sure it corners flatter.
i also see you shied away from welding them together
I've toyed with the idea of linking them with some sort of bracket though, but this may creak without some sort of bush, I also looked at the Cavalier ARB this ties in the same places along the trailing arm as the 900 but it is also bushed to the torsion beam too, its all food for thought I guess.

Yes, sorry about that, sounds a bit sad, now I read it back :D

Is your's lowered then, or is it just the change in offset? I take it you have different rims on then?

I'm still running stock springs and I have a set of viggen 17" rims on and I get no rubbing except when on full lock and the tyres are brand new. I'm wondering if I'll need to go down to 215's when I add the lowered springs later this year. At least it'll make up my mind when to go for it, as I won't do it until the tyres are ready to be replaced, I suppose :)

Bump for this mod :D

I liked it so much, I'm doing the same with my car. Yellow paint is drying as we speak. Did the front sway bar while I was at it too...

Hot tip!

Get 3 stainless hose clamps and clamp the bars together in the middle, and on the sides. I did this, and have been running 4+ months with out ANY problems or noise.

I also drove before and after the clamps, and the difference is well worth the 3 bucks at the hardware store.

Heck, you could paint them to match....

You talkin' about me?

The ramps are cheapo 8" high jobs so the car is not high at all; I look like Jack Nicholson as Johnny in 'The Shining'
