Hi everyone,

I own a TX SC manual here in Boston, MA (120,000 miles and counting) and even in New England it can feel a little lonely as a Saab owner these days. There's no local club, and even Saab savvy shops often aren't aware of the TX or it's issues. This forum is a great help, but it has a terrible search function and even Google doesn't search it well.

So I thought I could use this thread to track and continually update a post of TX resources. We can keep track of other great threads here and elsewhere, post about where to find rhomboid exhausts or rims, keep track of links, etc. I'll continuously update a master document as everyone posts. I may also mirror it on a dedicated Google + site as well. Also just feel free to check in from wherever you and your TX reside, a sort of mini-registry of sorts.

Please add your own favorite threads, links, and TX savvy repair shops as well as retail outlets to buy TX parts.

Thanks!
- Iari

Parts Advice:
- Rubber axle boots for the TX are interchangeable with SRX/La Crosse -- $40 kits... No need to spend 100s/1000 for axle replacement on account of torn boot!
- XWD suspensions: Hirsch, via Cardyourcar.eu, has self-leveling shocks (rear) + front w springs for about $1300 USD (plus postage and presumably import duty at port of entry)

US:

- Prime Buick/GMC (the Shaw Saab folks went here), Norwell, MA (South Shore Boston)
- Volvo Village (where the CRS folks went), Allston/Boston, MA

* Wisconsin
- Bergstrom Automotive (there is a Technician there, Brad Sorenson, who is a Turbo X owner himself. Huge Font of Knowledge!)

Herculean, Iari!

I would add the Turbo X FB Group.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/7926878257/

One of Nuggets in last day, there, is that rubber axle boots for X are interchangeable with SRX/La Crosse -- $40 kits...no need to spend 100s/1000 for axle replacement on account of torn boot!

Sky Ain't Falling (despite what I often read on this site...). BTW: My car with just over 80,000 Km, heavily modified, has had essentially zero issues (maintenance, yes; single ignition coil; suspected rear shock leak [so went coil overs]) w Haldex and related drive train particularly unremarkable ($400 fluids change every 2 years.... big deal...).

For a shop with considerable XWD experience in Greater Toronto Area I would add Budds, Oakville http://www.buddssaab.ca/

And in Wisconsin [Neenah?]:
Bergstrom Automotive. there is a Technician there, Brad Sorenson, who is a Turbo X owner himself. Huge Font of Knowledge!
(Bergstrom Group has multiple sites in WI... former Saab Dealer, now exclusively Chevy -- Cheese Heads please correct me!)

Great! I'm only on Facebook like once or twice a year, so I was totally unaware of that group. Can't wait to read through it.

I updated the original post with the information you provided. Spread the word and let's continue to build the resource guide!

Awesome thread. The guys at Best Chevrolet here in Hingham, MA work on Saabs and treated me very well when I went in the other day with coolant issues. Also, Boston Volvo is now the Saab center which was Charles River Saab in Watertown who are very knowledgeable when it comes to Saabs and the TurboX ;ol;

Thanks for the info guys. I added it to the most recent build of the list along with a thread on XWD fluid replacement. Anyone know any of the mods who could add this to the sticky list?

Saabman900: You're in Hingham? I work in Braintree (and Scituate and Weymouth)! I've never seen another Turbo-X around the South Shore. The only person to ever randomly stop me on the street to say, "Hey, you're got a Turbo-X!" was on the South Shore, though. I'll PM you later, as I have a lot of questions for you about some local repair places and vendors, since I read your Stage 4 thread (added to the resource) and saw you did work at Auto Clinic.

TurboX Rear Diff....

Best news I've heard about the TX parts in a long time:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/7926878257/permalink/10153129870708258/

"Confirmed. Lacrosse diff is the same as ours in the TX. This one (part#20966176) that I found in a local wrecking yard is in my TX. I verified gears and ELSD were the same internally, swapped out my control unit, changed fluids and filter, and installed it."

I saw this the other day on the FB thread and was ecstatic! $1000 appears to be the lowest price for a brand new (as you posted) one but I found tons on LKQ for as low as $500 with low miles! Slowly but surely, our XWD concerns are slipping away as the knowledge base grows!

I also recently had an issue that put my XWD system out of commission for over a week. After finding a place that repairs our XWD modules (RDCM module) for a very fair price, I came to realize that my problem was simply a broken wire -- a $1 fix! I searched far and wide for information about the "U2170 - RDCM Missing on Bus" error code I was getting off Tech2, which caused a "Service XWD" message and my XWD system to be completely inoperable, and in the end I feel I've compiled enough information for anyone to fix the problem for either $1 or $285, depending on if it is wiring or the module it self. See here for my diagnosis procedure:

Great ressource thread!

110000km on mine... still in love. I'm less arround this forum in the last year but still a great place to come. Glad to see some old friends are still in the TX bandwagon (NTP greatings from Montréal!).

Besides the cracked rim last fall (still trying to find 1 replacement OE rim - hard to find - any help appreciated) the car is a champ!
