Need a new turbo for my 86 SPG and have found a used Garrett T3 but from a newer model ('88 - '90, oil and water lines). Can this be put on my 86 since the original had only the oil line. Would really appreciate some replys, thanks

The newer turbo must be water cooled. If you are game to put in the cooling system modifications, do it. If I were you, I'd try to find one just like the turbo already there. No sense in making things more complicated than they need to be.

Yeah the water-cooled turbo is a superior design, so I would go for it.

Just also get a water pump and the lines for the newer car as you install the turbo. IIRC the water lines just go direct to the pump...
