Hello,
I have searched many threads trying to clarify the differences between the Turbo versions here in the UK. To summarise, here is the current information I have gathered, based on a brochure from 1991 (However the exact same naming system and models were available in the 1993 Australian brochure, and the 1989 Australian Brochure), the first name is the name in the brochure, and the one in brackets is what the badge on the boot will say. Also note, the below info is for UK 900s, the Turbo S was not available in the US and was known as the SPG instead, which were debadged:
900S [900S] = 900 with a low pressure turbo (LPT), no APC/Boost gauge in the instrument cluster
900S Aero [900S] = Same as above, but with the aero body kit (side skirts rather than the thinner rubber strips found on 900i's and 900S's.
900 Turbo 16 [900 Turbo]= FPT (Full pressure turbo), APC/Boost gauge in the instrument cluster, 160HP, with aero body kit
900 Turbo 16S Aero [900 Turbo S] = Same as above, but with 175HP, stiffer suspension, lowered chassis, anti roll bars, aero body kit.
My question is, what were the differences between the "Turbo S", and the "T16S", which is from what I understand the nomenclature used up until 1987, And secondly, why am I able to find 900 Turbo S's that have no "Turbo S" badge, it seems only some have the "S" badge appended after turbo. I can say for sure that based on the 1991 brochure, the Turbo S shown has the "Turbo S" badge, yet in the 1989 Australian brochure, the Turbo S is shown as simply having a "Turbo" badge with no "S", yet similarly, I am able to find a Turbo S here in the UK from 1987 with the Turbo S badge? It all seems very inconsistent. Any help appreciated, as well as links to any more UK sales brochures for the 900 aside from 1991.
Thanks
