I went to advance auto parts to get my codes ran and when he plugged in the OBD2 scanned nothing happened. But he tried it on a different vehicle and the scanner worked. Any possible problems/solutions I should look into? It’s a 2006 Saab 9-5 with 184k.

Check to make sure none of the pins on the OBD2 connector aren't pushed out or open to wide. Very uncommon for there to be an issue with OBD2 connectivity however I've had issues with DICE (or was it the TWICE?) units causing OBD communication issues. These were due to water intrusion.
