The saabsite is seriously wrong. From 94 on the 2.3L engine has a different bolt pattern to the transmission than previous years they cannot be the same even if the internals are.SaabKen said:I thought all '86 to '98 autoboxes were identical (ZF4HP18Q) ?

I don't believe the exchange will work, but I could be wrong. 1989 will have the 2.0l engine, whereas 1993 has the 2.3l. Although, I think the difference in compression is achieved by a longer stroke, so perhaps the block is the same? I do know the 2.3l 1994+ block will not fit an earlier transmission. Most everwhere I have seen a transmission for sale for 1993, they always say 1991-1993, so... that leads me to believe 1986-1990 aren't compatible.
