Transmission woes

Ok there are multiple factors in this issue here so I will try to be concise as possible.. 2007 9-5 a/t .. recently swapped engines.. started drove fine . alternator went out while in traffic which threw it into limp mode via transmission .. gave multiple codes input/ output range sensor low voltage .. checked tranny fluid some jackass thought it would be cute to return a bottle of tranny fluid with water in it.. I bought that one .. my luck.. caught it maybe half a

maybe a pint of water likely less than that.. so flushed transmission.. my research led me to use kerosene .. did that . Replaced with new fluid and it will go into gear sometimes .. only for 500 feet or so.. any ideas?? Oh also replaced nss and cable ..
I don't know if you've solved this but you're going to have to flush it several times, not with kerosene but with fresh transmission fluid. Drain it, you'll get about 1/3 of the total in the transmission, start the car to circulate, run the gear selector through the gears, then repeat the process. I'd probably do it at least 3 times. The kerosene and water are mixed in with everything, you want to get it as diluted as humanly possible.

I have done just that along with cleaning solenoids .. in the process of putting everything back together fingers crossed.. thank you for response .. appreciated more than I could express...
How did things turn out? These transmissions are robust but exquisitely sensitive to fluid quality.

Well I have flushed it three times and put Toyota 4 tranny fluid it on the forth and it will move furtkher but as soon as it starts to get warm it's like the bands just give up and there is no friction ... I'm stumped . I figure I will flush it once more use my Hilti pump to try to get all of it out and from that point start checking resistance down the line. From the tcm..

When I first started flushing the fluid was not very pink at all ... These last couple times it was like strawberry milk and now it's just crystal clear red..so I'm hoping that there is some still in the tc that needs to mix with this last fluid and it will be done.. I have a friend of mine that's supposed to be bringing me ten gallons of fluid ... If so I will give all ten gallons a go and try from there !
