[Roaspec]

2005 9-5, 2.3t engine, auto trans. There is a hose , about the size of a heater hose, that looks to come from the top of the transmission.
The other end is not connected. There is a fitting , about the same size, on the bottom of the brake master cylinder. Does it go there?

That's probably the vent hose for the transmission. Is it about 1/2" in diameter? The vent hose is suppose to come more or less straight up out the top of the transmission, and then makes a 90 degree bend towards the interior of the car, and clips to one of the wires on the side of the fuse box. That clip is usually broken by now, so the hose tends to dangle. It's also supposed to be a nice soft rubber hose, but they're pretty hard by now if they're original.

and NO, it is not supposed to go to the brake reservoir. just leave the end dangling but make sure that the end is pointing "down" so no moisture gets into the line and goes into the transmission

It is super weird how the hose is the exact length and diameter for the brake reservoir, but like uncle said it is not for that!

After further inspection of the brake master cylinder, the connected is sealed. So there is nothing connected there on this vehicle.
