Had a great time around the Manfield track today in Feilding NewZealand . Car was on standard road brakes started to fade eventually , For the next trackday I may chop up an aero rear sway bar and piggy;back that ( trying to get the rear end to do more work and get some tyre heat ). As far as brakes go at I will at least install braided hoses and go up to dot 5 brake fluid . But all up I found the 9000 to be a very forgiving well balanced and actually quite fast track car even with its tiddly little t25.

Use DOT 5.1 brake fluid. DOT 5 in not compatible.

Very cool, I run the SAS sway bars and the blue racing brake fluid with the yellow racing ebc bads and stainless lines, that helps a lot for brake fade !

John Z Williams you no doubt will know this : Price and availiability of an LSD and any other parts for a gearbox overhaul ? The gearbox is starting to play up so a teardown is in order. Its sometimes locking when going from neutral to first and reverse and clunking several moments after sitting in neutral .

Used LSD's; I managed to find 2 from known sellers for about $450 each, patience needed.

I'd do the following to a track focused box:

1) 9k gearset + 9-3 5th gear depending on top speed VS acceleration requirements.
2) 2nd, 3rd, 4th gears duplex shot peened and cryo treated
3) 3rd gear circlip mod + late style 3rd gear hub.
4) Dowel mod to support pinion bearing plate to casing.
5) 4.05 or 4.45 to FD to try and reduce internal stresses.
6) LSD! Nice and tough

New BEARINGS:
4 input / output shaft plus pair of Diff bearings: £116 inc. vat Source: Bearing King

1) Output shaft bearing top 32008 TIMKEN

2) Input shaft clutch side 44649/44610 TIMKEN

3) Input shaft top bearing (edited to fix previous error):
30206/27 TIMKEN This is made from: XFA30206M & Y30206M
This seems a little harder to get so also consider 90490868 saab part which gets you a box with the same as above.

4) Output shaft pinion end NP806712/NP326808 TIMKEN

5) Diff Bearings 32010X TIMKEN

Fantastic KevinC . Much appreciated . Will pull box out and begin the arduous costly rebuild . So in the end it will be one tough cookie weekend track racer !
