Dex iii

Dex III is what Saab specifies. Any Dex III meets or excedes Manufacturer Specs. Dex IV or above is Synthetic and that would be YOUR choice to use or not, and not something I would recomend. Type F, Mercon, Honda or any other transmission fluid is NOT recomended.

If it says DEX III it will be fine. ;)

That said.. Saab DEX III would be best.

This is an item that's pointless to vary from EXACTLY what the factory specs.
No gain, but lots of downside from using the wrong thing.

I'm almost unable to communicate that the SAAB fluid is expensive without using profanity. It's quite possibly the most exorbitantly priced fluid in existence.

Technically, now, the auto trans is supposed to use 3309, which is what the SAAB fluid is. You can purchase it here, with $20 shipping, for MUCH cheaper than the SAAB fluid: http://avlube.com/mobilatf3309.html

I'm in NJ and I received it within 3 days of placing the order.

If you read the eeuroparts page, you will see that it specifies "3309": http://www.eeuroparts.com/Main/PartDetail.aspx?id=93160393

What about inkjet printer ink? You get like one fluid ounce and it costs like 50 bucks

You're right.

According to a graph that I saw, I think it was in Newsweek, printer ink costs more than blood or blood plasma.

With that said, SAAB ATF has to fit right in there somewhere...

Also, not sure if this helps any...

I ran 14 quarts of store brand DEX III before I ran the 3309. In the end I had 1 bottle of 3309 left. I think I payed about $3-$3.50 per quart of the generic at Advanced. I can't remember exactly.

I hadn't changed my ATF for some time. It's something to consider if you plan on changing your ATF.

When I looked over the receipts, I think I spent just about $120.
