Hi Folks!

I have a 2001 9-5 wagon that needs some touch up paint. Went to a familiar internet part place and purchased supposedly a Genuine SAAB touch up pint kit. The picture I saw had multiple small bottles of paint and what I think is clearcoat for cover on top of the paint.

Well there was a problem with the order, called the place, and they straightened it out. the other day I got a non-oem bottle of just paint for my car.

While I'm irritated at the company I made the order with, obviously they don't have the SAAB touch up kit, and I can use the touch up paint. Can someone help me out with these questions:

1. Does a SAAB touch up paint kit come with clearcoat to cover the touch up paint?
2. If not is there clearcoat I can buy somewhere else to do the job?
3. If there isn't, what do you recommend to make the chips look good after I paint them over?
4. Should I try and by a touch-up kit in another color and use only the clearcoat?

thanks!

You can buy clearcoat at any reasonable car paint store.

I have always had better results though by using an aerosol can rather than a touch up pen. Simply spray the aerosol into the lid and you then have liquid paint to use. I have always found this to be a better match.

I get my paint from a specialist car paint store, simply give them your paint code and they will match it, and its usually cheaper than genuine.

The touch up kit from Saab has paint and the clear coat in two separate bottles. That is what I have for my 2000 9-5 Aero Wagon.
