Removed the timing chain tensioner to check how far it has extended and noticed that the plunger on mine is metal (sticks to my magnetic tool). From what I've read and seen in vids this piece seems to be plastic. Just want to make sure its an OEM unit and not aftermarket.

Is the OEM one metal, plastic, or was there some kind of revision?

Pretty sure there is no such thing as an aftermarket timing chain tensioner. Certainly not something I've ever seen!

Think the only place I've seen them are on ebay.

Wow, that's crazy. Of the probably 40 or 50 timing chain tensioners I've looked at over 30 years, every one I've ever seen has a plastic plunger.

Hmm maybe I do have an aftermarket one. Don't have a pic of the plunger, but here is a pic of it when I took the measurement. Looks like a timing chain is due in the near future as it measured about 13.5mm.
